Using LiveFPL’s extensive range of tools, we take a look at the squad composition and chip usage of the world’s leading Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers.
We will examine the 1,000 names in List of ‘Legendary Managers’ of LiveFPL – the historical creme de la creme, a bit like ours Hall of fame – but especially those of the top 10k of the current general classification.
Between the two groups (where there will of course be some overlap) it is the managers who can give us a better gauge of FPL ownership and chip strategy, as opposed to the overall numbers which are skewed by the growing number intact “ghosts”. teams’.
There’s loads of useful information beyond the overall numbers and top 10k on the LiveFPL site, of course, such as property stats for different rating levels.
TOP 10K AND “ELITE” MANAGERS: GAMEWEEK 29 CAPTAINCY

Let’s get the easy part out of the way first: After an open captaincy and a series of polarizing scores during Gameweek 28, the vast majority of top managers handed the armband over to Mohammad Salah (£13.3m) this time around.
Nearly 98% of FPL bosses who used their Triple Captain chip backed the Egyptian, unsurprisingly.

TOP 10K: CHIP USAGE
There were quite a few Bench Boosts deployed in the top 10k this week, but the Triple Captain was the most popular chip, with nearly one in four main bosses using it.
Less than one in five FPL managers in the top 10,000 still have three or more chips left to use, while almost half (45.9%) have either reached their maximum allocation or have just one left. chip.
The Bench Boosters got Gameweek off to a good start, with Crystal Palace v Manchester City and six more “doublers” to follow in the coming days.
TOP 10K AND ‘ELITE’ MANAGERS: MODEL SQUAD FOR GAMEWEEK 29
While the ‘model’ goalkeepers and forward line remained unchanged from Gameweek 28, there were some notable tweaks elsewhere.
Andrew Robertson (£7.2 million), Kieran Tierney (£5.1m) and above all Matt Doherty (£4.8million) have all seen increased interest, with Lucas Digne (£5.1 million), Joao Cancelo (£7.0m) and the injured Reece James (£6.2m) falling out of favor.
In midfield, the Spurs duo Son Heung-min (£10.9 million) and Dejan Kulusevsky (£6.2million) came to the fore at the expense of the Villa pair Jacob Ramsay (£4.8 million) and Joao Coutinho (£7.4 million).

TOP 10K: SQUAD TEMPLATES
The Wildcard model team is unsurprisingly large on Gameweek 29’s “doublers”: there are 10 such players in total, with the budget fillers accounting for the other five.
Gameweek 30 also factored in, with nine of this XV in action in the next decimated round.
TOP 10K: AVERAGE NUMBER OF DETAINED PLAYERS PER TEAM FOR BLANK GAMEWEEK 30
The average manager in the top 10k will likely need a hit or two to get a full XI in Gameweek 30, although with only four matches to choose from some FPL bosses may be content with 9 or 10 active with one match not affected.
The two North London clubs are well over half of the 8,511 average, with Bukayo Saka (£6.6million) the most detained player.
