Like most medicines, Orgovyx can cause mild to severe side effects. The lists below describe some of the more common side effects that Orgovyx can cause. These lists do not include all possible side effects.

Mild side effects

Abnormal heart rhythm

Orgovyx can cause abnormal heart rhythms, although this is rare in studies from Orgovyx. But some people who developed this side effect during treatment had to stop taking the drug.

Orgovyx can cause a type of abnormal heart rhythm called long QT syndrome. It is a change in certain electrical activities in your heart.

Any of the following may increase the risk of cardiac arrhythmias, including long QT syndrome, during treatment with Orgovyx:

While you are taking Orgovyx, your doctor may check your blood electrolytes and order an ECG from time to time. This helps your doctor watch for signs of an abnormal heart rhythm.

If you notice symptoms of cardiac arrhythmia while taking Orgovyx, contact your doctor immediately. They may suggest stopping treatment with Orgovyx and may recommend other treatments for your prostate cancer.

Decreased libido and erectile dysfunction

Taking Orgovyx can cause decreased libido and erectile dysfunction (ED). These were not among the most commonly reported side effects in studies medication, but they can happen.

Decreased libido and erectile dysfunction are expected side effects of treatments like Orgovyx. This is because Orgovyx works to reduce testosterone in the body to almost undetectable levels.

Testosterone is a hormone that affects your sex drive and mood, among other functions. It can also cause the growth of prostate cancer. This is why drugs that lower testosterone levels, such as Orgovyx, can be used to treat prostate cancer.

It is also important to note that erectile dysfunction can also be a symptom of advanced prostate cancer, the condition Orgovyx is used to treat.

What might help

Talk to your doctor if you notice decreased sex drive or erectile dysfunction while taking Orgovyx. They can discuss ways to manage these side effects. This includes using drugs such as sildenafil (Viagra) if you can do so safely. They may also recommend treatments other than medication, such as pelvic floor exercises.

Heart attack

Although extremely rare in studiesheart attack is a possible side effect of Orgovyx.

If you think you have symptoms of a heart attack, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. A heart attack is a life-threatening medical emergency that requires immediate treatment.

If you have a heart attack while taking Orgovyx, your doctor will tell you whether you should continue taking the medicine.

Allergic reaction

Some people may have an allergic reaction to Orgovyx. Although allergic reactions have not been reported in studies of Orgovyx, they can still occur in rare cases.

Symptoms of a mild allergic reaction may include:

A more serious allergic reaction is rare but possible. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction can include swelling under the skin, usually on the eyelids, lips, hands or feet. They can also include swelling of the tongue, mouth, or throat, which can lead to difficulty breathing.
