ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Good Shepherd Catholic Church of Mount Vernon has held its international festival for 45 years. The festival will take place this weekend – September 5 and 6 – but will have a different face because of the coronavirus. In fact, many events will take place virtually.
Whatever the setting, the festival is always seen by organizers as a celebration of the end of summer. This year, the festival will support the Shepherd’s Gate grant scheme.
According to a press release, the grants are “awarded to nonprofit organizations that serve those in need, promote justice, uphold human dignity, and promote peace.”
Funds from last year’s festival, totaling $25,000, were recently donated to seven different organizations that practice these ideals.
A featured event is the first-ever online raffle. There are two grand prizes worth $5,000 each. To buy tickets, click HERE. There is also the Virtual 5k Race & Fun Run. To register, click here.
